Dawson Middle School PTSO - WELCOME

Welcome to Dawson Middle School and welcome to the official website of the DMS Parent, Teacher, Student Organization (DMS PTSO.)  If you are new to DMS, hopefully you will find our website beneficial in discovering how you can take an active role in supporting our administration, staff and students.

Check out our Community Partners to understand how your current neighborhood vendors of products and services can provide a financial benefit to DMS.  A portion of every purchase from Kroger, Tom Thumb, Box Tops, Target and Koalaty Cleaners will be donated to your PTSO.

Please refer back to this website as we do our best to keep you informed of important information and events taking place at DMS.  Make it a GREAT year by getting involved and staying informed!

Christmas is for Children

The season has arrived and again this year the students are in charge at DMS!

Each advisory has adopted 1 angel and each student is encouraged to participate in fulfilling the angel requests.  Ask your child what his/her role is this year and how you can support them in this community wide volunteer activity.

PLEASE take a few minutes and read the important CIFC INFO to learn the revisions this holiday season.  All Angel items are due back Monday, Nov 30th.

Thank you very much for your support and participation.

Contact us with any questions.

Beth Chernik, Laurie Alm & Jill Webb

In addition to the Angels adopted by our Advisory classes, DMS has extra angels if any family or organization is interested adopting any of these angels.  Contact Beth Chernik for more information.

Christmas is for Children --FOOD DRIVE

In addition to adopting Angels DMS is providing another opportunity for our students and families to support Christmas is for Children.  We will be collecting canned and boxed goods to complete food baskets for Angel families.

Please see document below for specific needs.

Collection bins will be in the front foyer

We conducted our meeting on Nov 4.  One item of business was to vote on wish list items for our DMS staff/students.  We voted and approved 29 items for a total cost of approximately $12,500.  These will be paid for using funds from our generous DMS families from our online check writing campaign conducted at the first of the year. CLICK HERE to see a list of the approved disbursement items.

OUR GUEST SPEAKER WAS OUR DISTRICT INTERVENTION/SUPPORT COUNSELOR, TONYA ALLEN.  She provided great information on stress and our kids.  CLICK HERE for some of the forms she left for us to take home including a Teen Stress Test.

Parents & Students:
Did you know Mrs. Hurlburt & Mrs. Tatum update their blog with a lot of helpful information throughout the school year?

Right now, they have helpful articles and information about the following topics:
cyber-bullying, popular social media sites, study skills, study apps, stress, and suicide along with counseling resources for upcoming course registration. Our counselors update the blog regularly, and want to make sure that you are aware of this resource! Here is the link:
